League - Summer "All Stars"
2012 Little League World Series (LLWS) Tournament
The
first stage of all star tournament play is district level .
Bethesda LL is in Md. District 7 which is the biggest
district (13 leagues) in our state. District (GAMES) play is June
30 - July 7 for the 10u and 11u age group and July
7-14 for the 12u age group. Second stage of play is at the state level (Md. State tourney is July 14-21 for the
10u and 11u allstars and July 21-28 for the 12u). Third stage is Regional level (August in Bristol, Conn) and the final
stage is Williamsport (Aug 16-26) and the LLWS. Both Regional games and Williamsport games will be televised on ESPN this
year. You have to win each level or stage to advance. At the lowest levels of play, most tourneys are either pool play or
double elimination. Our district tourney this year will be pool play with four games minimum. Top 4 teams make the semi final
games. Two winners meet for district championship. After a week -- a district 7 champ is crowned. Then that champ is one of
8 at the State Championship Tourney. The 12u state tourney will be at a District 2 (Frederick, Mt Airy, Hagerstown, etc) Md
LL tbd site and the 10u and 11u district tourneys will be hosted by a District 3 location. District 3 is only the city of
Washington, DC.
Note: the Maryland State Champion 10u year old team will advance to Cranston, Rhode Island (first
week of August) for the 2nd annual Eastern Region 10u Tournament which will feature all of the 11 eastern region state
champions.

The 2011
Bethesda Bulldawgs/Bethesda LL 10u All Stars team finished with a very solid 7-3 summer record including victories over Waldorf,
Calvert American, St. Marys National, BCC Select, Gaithersburg (GSA), and Cap City LL as well as two close very tough losses
vs. Hughesville (district 7 representative in MD State LL tourney). The team reached the semi finals and secured 3rd place
out of 13 leagues in the MD LL District 7 tournament near Solomons Island, Md.
